Focus Gallery Online
Objects of Exchange

The Bard Graduate Center is pleased to announce the launch of our first expanded Focus Gallery website for the exhibition Objects of Exchange: Social and Material Transformation on the Late Nineteenth-Century Northwest Coast, that opened in January 2011. The new site provides a comprehensive archive of the exhibition as it was displayed: an "object gallery" featuring all the loans from the American Museum of Natural History; the interpretive maps, wall text, and object labels; an interactive digital display that was shown in the gallery; installation shots; a list of the public programs; and a description of the catalogue (available from the BGC and Yale University Press). In addition, the site features new BGC student research on five additional objects from the AMNH, as well as audio and video interviews with First Nations artists and scholars discussing the objects and themes of the exhibition. Together with the catalogue, the new website provides rich, multimedia documentation of the exhibit and a valuable resource for educators.
